Blank Page when editing WordPress site

Setting up a WordPress site did you get a blank page when editing wordpress site

Do you get a blank page when editing WordPress? If so this article will help you resolve your issue and get you back to editing your new site! So I recently migrated to a new web hosting company, Inmotion Hosting for this blog and I was setting up the WordPress site and ran into this issue and I wanted to share the steps on how I fixed this on this blog. The WordPress automatic installer that comes with cPanel it makes it nice and easy to install a WordPress site. However, I found that when I try to edit the site after logging into my WordPress dashboard and then navigating to Appearance > Editor (beta) I got a blank page (the URL has site-explorer.php in it but there is nothing on the page). You might be asking yourself, “How do I fix this?”

At first, I thought this was an issue with my web hosting but then I realized that something might be off in my WordPress settings. After doing some research I was able to get the site editor to work. This is great because with WordPress 6 the site editor is sleek and easy use.

I documented the steps I took to fix this issue so that others could get the help they need as well:

  1. Navigate to your WordPress Dashboard again it’s usually https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/
  2. Click on Settings > General from the the left navigation menu
  3. Under General Settings you will see that your domain does not have the www. prefix
Wordpress General Settings Update Domain Prefix
  4. Add a prefix of www. in front of your domain in the WordPress Address field.

So if you get a blank page when editing WordPress try the above steps. Don’t worry if you run into any issues you can always reach out to me!
